Aristotelian Vs. Senecan Influences
Aristotelian logic, also known as syllogistic logic, is the particular type of logic created by Aristotle, primarily in his works Prior Analytics, which is Aristotle's work on deductive reasoning, part of his Organon, the "organ" of logical and scientific methods, and De Interpretatione. De Interpretatione, also known as Hermeneutics, is a work of the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle, mainly on the philosophy of language. Hermeneutics nowadays means the philosophical science of interpreting of texts. It later developed into what became known as traditional logic or term logic. Senecan logic is logic of or relating to or like in the manner of the Roman Seneca. Seneca was Roman Stoic philosopher, writer, and tutor of Nero. His works include treatises on rhetoric and governance and numerous plays that influenced Renaissance and Elizabethan drama. There are many similarities and differences between Aristotelian and Senecan Influences.
