Summary: Contrasting views and philosophies about war can be depicted by comparing Rupert Brooke's poem "The Soldier" which portrays patriotism and bravery, Wilfred Owen's "Futility" that displays the wasted efforts of war and Leon Gellert's "Anzac Cove" which describes the horror and debt of war.
Attitudes towards war have changed dramatically throughout history. Humanity as a whole has had a diverse range of opinions on this highly contraversial topic and they remain to today.

These attitudes have been reflected in a number of mediums, one of the most highly profound, poetry. The contrast of these views can be depicted by comparing Rupert Brooke's poem "The Soldier" which portrays patriotism and bravery, Wilfred Owen's "Futility" that displays the wasted efforts of war and Leon Gellert's "Anzac Cove" which describes the horror and debt of war.

War promotes loyalty, mateship and a sense of nationality. This is displayed in Rupert Brooke's poem "The Soldier."
