Patch Adams - A Man of Compassion

Summary: A general description of the personality of the title character in the movie "Patch Adams." A man who fought against the medical establishment for the sake of helping people and alleviating their suffering, Adams serves as an inspiration and teaches the need to be more empathetic and understanding of people and their pain.
Hunter "Patch" Adams is truly a man of compassion. By definition, the virtue of compassion is the ability to be conscious of the suffering of others, to be moved by their distress, and to desire to alleviate their suffering. He showed compassion to everyone throughout the entire movie Patch Adams. Patch realized that he wanted to have a career where he could serve others while he was still in the mental institution for attempting suicide. He had one instance where he fixed one man's broken coffee cup with a piece of tape, and was called "Patch" after that. Another instance was where he pretended to kill all of the "squirrels" that his roommate was seeing, which prevented him from using the bathroom. Patch realized that he wanted to connect with others, to learn about what pleases people and what does not, and he wanted to listen to them...
