The Good Example of Ivory Christian in "Friday Night Lights"
Summary: In the film "Friday Night Lights," Ivory Christian is the football player at Odessa-Permian who was the ideal role model because of his character and actions on and off the field.
Friday Night Lights is a perfect example of the way high school football is run in Texas. Texas high school football is considered, by almost everyone in Texas, as a way of life. Every town and city has their own high school football team that supposedly has to "protect their town and keep its pride" by winning against the other towns' football programs. This movie in particular is about a high caliber team in Odessa Texas, Odessa-Permian High School. Their football program has been very prestigious with many state championships previous to the 1988 season in which the movie took place. Talk even before the 1988 football season predicted Odessa-Permian High School to win the state championship.
