Effects of the French and Indian War on Britain and the American Colonies
Summary: An overview of the French and Indian War's impact on relations between Britain and the American colonies. The victory in this war provided opportunities for both entities, but it also spawned the the political, economic, and ideological differences between the two that would eventually result in the American Revolution.
The French and Indian war altered the political, economical, ideological relations between Britain and American colonies by providing a lot of open opportunities and losses. The British gained control of many territories while the American colonies had gained a vast new land to explore. With France removed from North America the vast interior of the continent laid open for Americans to colonize. The war was costly for the British and had caused them to be in debt. The British leaders then decided that London would be the central of authority to gain more control over the American colonies. American colonies then began to rebel and resent the British imperial policies which soon lead to the American Revolution.
