Abortion
The oxford English dictionary describes `abortion' as "The termination of pregnancy and expulsion of an embryo or of a foetus that is incapable of survival." However, abortion is interpreted in many different ways by various religions and individuals. Some believe abortion is the immoral murder of an innocent life and believe it is against God's will. In 1967 the first English law was passed permitting abortion as a legal act; the baby was allowed to be killed if it was 28 weeks old or younger. However, in 1990 new medical discoveries have meant that a baby 28 weeks old is capable of surviving out of the womb so the legal age of abortion was reduced to 24 weeks. Furthermore recent childbirths at 24 weeks have also shown that a baby is capable of surviving outside the womb.
