Summary: Traditional heroes also often sacrifice their standard of living for their standard of giving, such as in the movies Charlie's Angels and Willow. If stereotypical heroes and villains let off an unrealistic and unhealthy approach to life, it can have both a positive and negative effect on youth. Movies inspire and empower us to do certain things because they are set in a fantasy, and we all want to live in a fantasy.
Stereotypical heroes and villains in movies have a great influence on our societies behaviour, even though they might have changed in appearance over time. A typical hero seeks to help others even at his/her own expense, while the typical villain seeks to help himself/herself, even at the expense of others. Traditional heroes also often sacrifice their standard of living for their standard of giving. Using examples from Charlie's Angels and Willow, it will be shown that if stereotypical heroes and villains let off an unrealistic and unhealthy approach to life, it can have both a positive and negative effect on youth. This essay will also relate to the theme-heroes and villains/stereotyping, audience positioning and in particular the impact these movies are having upon youth today.
