Summary: A plot summary of Charles Dickens's "Great Expectations," a story of an orphan named Pip who is removed from his hometown and is raised to be a "gentleman" in London.
Charles Dickens' "Great Expectations" is a story of an orphan named Pip who is removed from his hometown, and be brought up as a gentleman in London. Having lost both his parents in his infancy, he was living with his sister, Mrs Gargery, who married the local blacksmith Joe. His life is changed for ever by two very different meeting-one with an escaped convict named Provis and one with an eccentric old lady named Miss Havisham and the beautiful girl called Estella who was adopted by her. This is a story full of excitement and danger, adventure and murder, love and delusion. The rich and strange Miss Havishame, the honest and kind Joe Gargery, the beautiful and heartless Estella, and many others whose influence shapes Pip's life in deep and mysterious ways.
