The Bible through Time
Think of a book. Not just any book, however; this book must meet certain conditions. For example, this book is the most widely read book in all of history as well as one of the most influential. Having been translated into roughly 2,100 languages, it is available to ninety percent of the world's population. Each year, roughly sixty million copies are sold. The only book that meets these criteria is the Bible. Just as there are several different branches of Christianity - from Protestant to Catholic to Eastern Orthodox, let alone all of their subdivisions - there is no one single version of the Bible that is able to please everyone. The theological and historical contents of the Bible have changed for well over 4,000 years resulting in countless versions of both the Old and New Testaments which are all an ultimate attempt to suit the public's needs.
