The Conceptual Framework of Bill Henson's Photography
Summary: The conceptual framework of the Bill Henson's photography exhibit, "Untitled 2000-2003," seems to portray a surreal and absurd view of suburban America.
I have chosen to write my response to Bill Henson's series Untitled 2000-2003. This particular series contains over 120 images. These include photographs of suburban America, and then range through to images, of human female and male models in the night.
This series of photographs is one of Bill Henson's most recent, comparatively it is a very modern series of artwork, which portrays the future and, is very surreal. These photographs are designed to install a sense of absurdity in the viewer. The images shift the emotional responses of the onlooker making them move out of their comfort zone. Bill Henson has said that his photos "disturb and annoy people." The partial and sometimes full nudity in these images force disengagement between subject and viewer. The images are always tranquil and cause apprehension of a second Eden that eludes us, striving to evoke other worlds. Featured above Untitles #106, this...
