Historiography of Ancient Singapore

Arguments in favor of the Sejarah Melayu:
The Sejarah Melayu was indeed a record of the royal genealogy. It might have been meant to comfort the royal subjects and rally the people into thinking that they were really divine, after the sacking of the Melakan Empire. Therefore, it is mythicised and biased. However, it cannot be that such a story can be spun out of nowhere. There has to be some truth in the legends. Even writing-styles and settings of fiction books may give an indication to the living conditions of the author's times.
The royal genealogies of the Sultanate have been fabricated suddenly. Some of it must be true. Nevertheless, it is mythicised, introducing elements of divinity in it. Besides, many of the stories are the only references we have on certain gaps in the Malayan and Singapore history that cannot be verified through archaeological evidence, though...
