How Newspaper Coverage Affects our Opinions
Summary: A close look at two different events and how their media coverage and slant of layout in newspapers can persuade reader opinions.
Schapelle Leigh Corby was born on the10th of July, 1977, and is a former beauty student from Australia, Schapelle was convicted by the Indonesian court for attempting to smuggle 4.1 kilograms of cannabis into the country of Indonesia. In October 2004 she was stopped by custom agents at Ngurah Rai Airport, which is in Bali, and was found to have a large package of drugs in her boogie board bag. Regardless of protesting her innocence, on May 27, 2005, she was found guilty and was sentenced to 20 years in jail, which in fact was a very little fine compared to death, or life sentence. She was also fined 100,000,000 Indonesian Rupee's, or $13,875 Australian, with an additional six months on top of her existing sentence if unpaid.
