A poem is a metrical composition in prose or verse. Poetry is a means of expressing ones feelings, emotions and opinions concerning a certain topic or idea in a creative and individual style. Due to this factor poetry offers the reader a one sided, biased and in some cases unlearned piece of information which may have the potential to obscure and cause questioning of a persons prior beliefs. Poetry is a powerful form of writing which also has the ability to place the reader into a new world, the world of the poet. In this respect poetry allows the reader a strong connection with the past. That is a poem recounts the subjective feelings of a person concerning an event or events which have most often already occurred.
