Jasper Johns: Biography of an Innovator

Jasper Johns is one of the most well known American post-Abstract Expressionists and Minimalists. He is mostly associated with paintings of symbols such as flags, numbers, and letters, Pop-Art images, but done in the style of Minimalism. He is a very successful and famous artist and has been part of the art scene for many years.
Johns was born on May 15, 1930 in Augusta, Georgia. He was an artist even when he was a small child. He was always painting or drawing. He enrolled at Columbia University for two years, but then moved to New York to pursue a career in art.
