By having a goal or dream in life the distance is shortened considerably and makes life's difficulties of achieving one's goal well worth the hardships.

To achieve anything in life one has to go a certain distance to reach the end. Motives, goals, and dreams are what drive people to become somebody in the world. Children grow up with dreams of one day becoming the President or even an astronaut. After one has set his life's goal he can prepare himself to reach it by choosing a certain lifestyle or education suited for his goal.
