How Successful Was the Plo in Achieving Its Objectives Towards Israel between 1967 and 1987?
Since the end of the British mandate over Palestine in 1948, the Palestinian population who were forced to "flee" have required a certain body of authority to control actions taken which may assist in the Palestinian's ultimate objectives. The Israeli occupation of Palestine meant that Palestinian rebellion was inevitable, and the results of the Six Day War were that a further 1.3 million Palestinian refugees came under Israeli rule as their boundaries increased and annexed uncontrolled land. The creation of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO) came as a result of a number of small Palestinian guerrilla groups undertaking terrorist raids into Israel from these refugee camps which existed in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and other small occupied areas.
