The War in Iraq
For my persuasive essay I have chosen to use the topic of the war in Iraq. I recognize that the topic is primitive and controversial, but it is a good example for this essay. My position is against the war.
The thing that started all this mess was September 11. When the planes crashed into the World Trade Towers in New York, Americans were devastated and in disbelief of the act of terrorism. Also a plane had crashed into a field and the last plane crashed into part of the Pentagon. After that, I know I felt scared that we would have another terrorist attack. Then a few days later President George W. Bush declared war.
I remember when we first went to war; I felt that it was a good idea. But, now I feel that the war was not worth it. We have spent millions of dollars on this war. I feel the money could be better spent on effects such as schools, health care, social security, and poverty. I think our government thinks America is the almighty enforces of the world. The reality is we don't rule the world.
Think of this, what if a member of your family or one of your closest friends ended up over in Iraq and then died a few months later. How would you feel? Think about it. Think about the families that have lost people they love because of the war. Think of the officers and soldiers that are over there risking their lives for American freedom. I think about those people everyday. I think about the students whom i have known my entire life who are entering the military adn if one of them were killed in combat. I would feel really horrible.
In conclusion I feel President Bush should take our troops out of Iraq and let the people of Iraq deal with their own problems. Also that the war was not necessary and the troops should come home.
