Strengths & Weaknesses of The Jury System

In the criminal justice system the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups...the police who investigate crime and the district attorneys who prosecute the offenders. The jury also plays an important role in deciding the verdict for these offenders.
The jury is a part of the law in which a group of every day citizens make decisions about the evidence given to them by the defense- people who try to defend one's innocence and the prosecutors- who try to convince the jury that the person/s in question is or are guilty. Generally in a criminal case there are approximately 10-12 jurors and in a civil case approximately 6-10 jurors which it is there job to listen to the evidence provided by both parties and to reach a verdict.
