Norman Rockwell shared his love for America through his many paintings. Throughout all his years, he never lost his naïve, childlike wonder and trust. The world outside maybe unfriendly, but Rockwell always looked past these troubles and taught us that life will get better.
Rockwell was born in New York City on February 3, 1894 to a family of modest means. He inherited his artistic talent from his father and maternal grandfather. As a young boy he was always sketching. He quit high school and entered the National Academy of Design. His first job was painting four Christmas cards before the age of 16. Still in his teens he was hired as an art director of Boy's Life, the official publication of the Boy's Scout of America.
