Howard Carter's discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in 1923 was a very important discovery. The fact that the tomb was intact gave us our first real look at the life and death of New Kingdom Egyptians.

The artefacts found within the tomb give us an idea about everyday life in New Kingdom Egypt, what they ate, their farming methods and about their leisure time. Some items of foodstuffs found in Tutankhamun's tomb were bread, ox tongue, goose and raw grain. There tell us the ancient Egyptian's diet was varied, and that they grew their own crops. Also buried with the pharaoh were a 413 shabtis. Shabtis were believed to be the workers of the pharaoh in the afterlife. These shabtis were found with mini agricultural tools, which give us insight to the Egyptian's farming methods. These shabtis as well as the foodstuff found show us what the Egyptian's ate, and...
