Types of Dairy Foods

Dairy foods include milk and products made from milk, such as: yogurt and different kinds of cheeses. Milk being called almost a perfect food, provides essential nutrients such as riboflavin, Vitamin B2, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and zinc and whenever fortified also Vitamin D.
There are different types of milk, which have different contents of saturated fat. They are whole milk, reduced fat, low fat and fat free milk.
Before milk reaches the consumer, milk is being heat treated to kill enzymes and harmful bacteria (unless you get your milk from Stonewall farm ...) This process is called pasteurization or ultra pasteurization. The higher the milk is being heat treated the longer the shelf live. Another process where milk fats are being broken down and evenly distributed is called homogenization.
