Summary: Humans are by their nature good, but society presents many challenges that bring out people's evil side. This is a philosophy essay with the opinions of the author.
Mankind is basically good, but society can easily bring out the evil due to the way humanity has adapted to the generally neutral universe. With each birth of a person, an innocent life is added to our world. Innocence implies purity and purity entails goodness. It is only through exposure to the tribulations of society that man will turn evil. Factors such as the environment of a young child and the people he or she grows up around are what will determine how a child will think and act. In an increasingly morally devalued and materialistic world, it is becoming harder and harder for mankind to maintain any sort of goodness.
