The Extract from the Getting of wisdom was written by Henry Handel Richardson in 1910. The Getting of wisdom is an actual novel however only a particular extract from it will be analyzed. Several chronological events take place, within this passage s the students seem to be worried before and after the entrance of Mr. Starchey (whom seems to be very furious) calls upon Annie Johns, who has committed a crime. The girl has been regarded as the thief during the talk of humiliation that Mr. starchey was giving her. This eventually leads to emotional upsets and starts crying however there are several students who seem to be sympathetic.
