Communism was bound to fail at the start. The idea of an economy where "everybody shares the poverty" is a joke, because there will always be people who do not want to be poor. Even if there is just one person in the economy that decides they want to go against communism and make more money than everyone else, the whole system falls down because that one person is exploiting everyone else in the system. It is not long before others find that they are being exploited by the one rich person and decide to make a better living for themselves, thus returning to a market type economy.
