The war in Iraq has brought different types of conflict into the view of the entire world. One of these conflicts has been a religious conflict. With 79% of Iraqis being Muslim conflict amongst them is a danger ("Iraq"). The main strife that there is amongst all the religions is within in a religion. Muslim of course, but it is between the Sunnis and Shiites. These are two religions that are close, but have differences that set them apart from each other equally.

To understand the conflict between the Sunni and Shiites each religion's beliefs must be understood. Most Sunnis and Shiites agree on the core foundations of Islam ("Shiite Muslims in Iraq"). This is true of the many different types of Muslim belief though.
