Historical Events in the U.S. Civil Rights Movement

Summary: A sometimes non-chronological account of various historic events and people in the Civil Rights Movement, including Rosa Parks, Martin Lutheran King Jr., Malcom X, the murder of Emmett Till, and civil rights legislation of 1965 and 1991.
The Civil Rights Movement was a tragic time for everyone. Many blacks were discriminated against and enslaved. Some lost their lives for fighting for their own race. To be like everyone, to be accepted, lots of struggles and hardships were put up throughout this entire movement, and it still continues on today.

What started The Civil Rights Movement was the murder of Emmett Till. Fourteen-year-old Emmett Till was kidnapped, beaten, shot, and dumped into a nearby river because Emmett whistled at a white woman. The two white men who murdered him were both found "not guilty" after being judged by an all-white jury.

After that tragedy, was followed by even more. A black man was once hung because he absentmindedly drank out of the wrong drinking fountain. And not too long after, an all black church burned down. There were many riots for the movement. During a riot...
