Summary: The plot and themes of accepting life in death in W.O. Mitchell's "Who Has Seen the Wind?"
W.O. Mitchell's, Who Has Seen The Wind, is the story of a young boy, named Brian, and his development of knowledge concerning life and death. Brian O'Connal lives in a small prairie town. The story begins in 1929, during the Depression. Brian lives with his family, consisting of his mother, father, grandmother and brother. This novel shows a young boy's naïve perceptions and developing wisdom through experiences and observations that the boy is subjected to. His understanding of life and death grows through realizations invoked by his perception of events and through his father's rendition of wisdom.
Brian has an unpretentious conceit regarding God. His theory of God is a man, nicknamed R.W., wearing rubber boots, riding on a vacuum cleaner. Since Brian was never really told what God was, he used his imagination to depict God. Later that day, Brian mentioned R.W. while praying...
