The History of Mexico's National drink.
When one thinks of tequila they generally picture a fiery liquid far too abused by college students for its excessive potency. However tequila has a much more interesting history and process of production than people would expect while tottering around with a half empty margarita in their hand.
Much to many peoples amazement, tequila does not come from the top shelf of their local grocery store rather it originates much farther away in the harsh and arid country of Mexico. Among the reddish tinted hills of Jalisco (a Mexican state) there are miles and miles of dotted blue fields covered in agave plants. Agave is the essential material for the production of one of the world's most complex liquors, Tequila.
