Nuclear Physics, Fusion as Future Energy Resource
Human beings are approaching the global energy crisis at alarming speeds now in the 21st century. World wide mass energy consumption is threatening the current energy sources such as fossil fuels and coal. Through nuclear technology, scientists have been investigating a new possible energy source in Nuclear Fusion for the future.
Nuclear Fusion describes the process in which two nuclei join and fuse together to be one, this process occurs under a large amount of energy used to overcome the natural electromagnetic repulsion between the nuclei. After the fusing process, the combined singular nucleus has a new atomic mass which is slightly lighter than the atomic mass of the two single nuclei added together.
