Summary: Various reform movements in American society between the years 1890-1920 included temperance, the women's rights movement, and prohibition.
America is sick. She suffers from a disease often gone unnoticed by the average citizen: predictability. As time moves on and the years go by, more and more historians and even psychologists will discover the patterns lying directly below the surface of American skin. As these patterns multiply, strong correlations will be seen between one event and the next, and the easier it will be to foresee the already predictable actions of American citizens. Any trained educator would know that action breeds reaction, but during the era of reform, "no-action" was also key in the reaction-breeding process. Whether it was from lack of government intervention or from distasteful American behavior, the reforms brought about during the late 19th to early 20th centuries were nevertheless a result of some preceding issue.
