The Ethics of Stem Cell Research
"Research on one kind of stem cell - embryonic stem cells - has generated much interest and public debate" (National Institutes of Health, 1). The topic of researching embryonic stem cells is a very controversial and ethical issue. The controversy surrounding stem cell research has moved from being scientific and ethical to a more political based issue because of governmental funding. Scientists claim that with enough research and funding they can learn how to manipulate and use stem cells to save millions of lives. People who are pro life argue that scientists take a life when they use the embryos from an unborn baby.
The main reason why scientists continue to fight for funding by the government is because they believe that stem cells have the potential to grow and form into many other cells in the body...
