The Physical Evidence of Continental Drift

Summary: The geologic and fossil evidence Alfred Wegener's theory that the Earth was one land mass until 250 million years ago.
If you were to look at a map of the Earth's you would probably notice that some of the continents have a puzzle like fit. Alfred Wegener believed that that the puzzle like fit wasn't just a coincidence. He believed that the continents were once connected at one landmass. He called this landmass Pangaea, which means "all land." Wegener believed that Pangaea broke apart 250,000,000 years ago. In 1912 Wegener proposed the idea of continental drift. Continental drift states that the continents have moved horizontally to their current location. Although this concept was not accepted before Wegener died in 1930 it is now believed to be very true. There is now a lot of evidence that makes Pangaea and the theory of continental drift believable.
