Located in Northwest Europe, England, also known as Great Britain, is one of the most industrialized countries in the world. Although England is one of the most successful countries, it is also one of the smallest in land size. Containing only 50,362 square miles, England is about the size of Alabama.
The first people in England arrived between 8000 and 3000B.C. These people knew how to raise cattle, plant grain, and build shelter. Next to their houses stood huge stone monuments called dolmens. They were built there to honor the spirits that they worshiped.
In A.D. 43, Roman Emperor Cladius conquered the area of modern England. But when Rome was attacked, the Roman troops returned to Rome to protect it. For the Next 111 years England was ruled in turn by the Scottish, the Normans, and the Saxons.
In 1154, King Henry II won back the freedom of England. In 1337, England...
