Double Jeopardy

Summary: Double Jeopardy is about a woman who is convicted of killing her husband, only to find years later that he is not dead. Upon release from prison, she decides to kill him in retaliation for the big cover-up.
This movie is about a troubled family in which the husband deceives his wife. Libby Parsons is happily married to Nick and has a wonderful son, Matty. On the outside of the relationship it seemed flawless, until one day they had a disagreement that spun out of control. A few days later Libby and Nick went out on a boating trip. When Libby woke up the next morning she couldn't seem to find her husband any where. Out of the corner of her eye she saw a bloody knife that left a trail of blood off the boat and into the water. Minutes later the coast guard shows up out of nowhere and saw her holding that bloody knife. Libby is then tried by jury and found to be guilty of the murder of her husband in the first degree. When she is sent to jail, she convinces her best friend, Angie, to adopt her son. During one of her calls to Matty while she is in prison, Libby learns that Nick is alive. She also learns that since she's already been convicted of killing Nick, she can kill him and not be charged. After seven year she is paroled and placed in a halfway house for criminals that are being rehabilitated. She meets her parole officer, Travis Lehman, but decides to run and find Nick. Travis is out to track her down for violating her parole, and if he catches her, she'll go back to prison. In order to find her husband, Libby, among other things, brakes into Matty's school where she finds files about her husband and his whereabouts. When she finally finds Nick, he is hosting a party at his house. She gets him alone by bidding the highest in his bachelor game. Travis shows up shortly after Libby and Nick go into his office. He realizes that Libby was right the whole time about Nick still being alive. Travis follows them into the office and protects her while Libby and Nick fight. Understanding that Libby was convicted unjustly, Travis didn't stop her as she killed him.
