Summary: Ancient Greece has impacted our world greatly because it originated both the concept of democracy and the concept of the Olympics. From their respective beginnings, both democracy and the Olympics created solid foundations that foster the development of a fair, equal, and peaceful society. Both concepts continue to have positive effects on the modern world today.
Ancient Greece has impacted our world greatly by creating democracy and the Olympics. Through the efforts of Ancient Greece most societies are no longer ruled by tyrants. Athletes around the world now receive the recognition they deserve for their outstanding efforts.
Democracy was first introduced in 508 B.C.E. by the ancient civilization of Athens, Greece. Democracy replaced the rule of dictators often called tyrants and began group ruling (Pearson 18). It was also one of the first divisions of government that gave people rights and the option of electing their ruler through votes.
