The plot of the movie determines the effectiveness of the movie. The Hurricane tells the story of an African-American man who, after having a troubled youth, overcame this to become a top competitor for the middle-weight boxing title. His dreams are crushed when he is accused of a triple murder and is convicted to jail for three natural-life terms. When in jail, he attempts to prove his innocence by writing his autobiography. Over the years, his appeals for his release from jail are denied, which leaves him feeling discouraged.
