Geodemographics: A Futuristic Marketing Tool
Summary: Defining geodemographics and its potential uses and abuses.
Geodemographics is the study of where people live, their age, income level, education and how that affects their spending. It's a unique system that uses consumer data to create "clusters", which therefore helps sellers; identify which people would be most intrigued by their products. It is an interesting yet bizarre data collection project, yet it seems to work, according to written evidence. Like all futuristic programs, however, it is not yet perfected, and has many obvious cons, yet the efficiency of it keeps the system going.
One of the pros of this system is that whoever is trying to sell you their product doesn't know your name. He knows approximately enough about you to tell him if you would buy his items or not. And this info isn't always correct. Since the program uses clusters, it only takes in a general privacy advantage of how your neighborhood acts...
