A drastic change called the Renaissance occurred in Europe. The people in Europe began to thing differently. They thrived to improve their daily life on Earth, rather than constantly worry about the afterlife. New places were explored and new ideas were presented to the people. The Renaissance created a new intellectual environment in Europe, which caused changes in art, religion, and science.

New techniques in art were developed to create paintings that appeared more realistic. The use of perspective, usually accompanied by the use of a vanishing point, create a painting that looks three-dimensional.
