Electoral College
Summary: The Electoral College is archaic and inequitable way of deciding the president and it should be modified or eradicated to fit the times of today. The Electoral College is an inefficient procedure because of the "winner take all" system. The Bush versus Gore election is a clear example of how and why it does not work. Also the Fifteenth, Nineteenth, and Twenty-sixth Amendments show how the Electoral College does not represent the population in its entirety.
"What difference does my vote make"" This question can be answered very differently depending on which state you reside in. A person in Rhode Island may feel as thought their vote does not make a big impact, whereas a person who resides in California can make a big impact. It is rather ludicrous that the winner of the popular vote in a presidential election can essentially lose. One of the familiar instances of this happened in the election of 2000 between George W. Bush and Al Gore. The Electoral College in the United States is antediluvian and inefficient because it poorly represents the population of the United States in its entirety. The Electoral College is an inequitable and archaic system of determining the president of the United States and should be modified or eradicated to fit the modern times of today.
