With a quick wit and a clever mind, Mercutio is a scene stealer and one of the most memorable characters in all of Shakespeare's works. Mercutio, a secondary character in Romeo and Juliet, is essential to the play. Mercutio is the Prince's kinsman, but more importantly, he is Romeo's friend and confidant. Throughout all the pain, love, and suffering brought to the two lovers in Romeo and Juliet, he was the one character who provided a humorous break from all of the emotional tragedy. Mercutio is my favorite Shakespearean character because of his excellent qualities and because I can identify with him.
