The Discovery of King Tutakhamen's Tomb
Tutankhamen became King of Egypt when he was nine. His reign lasted just until his unexpected death ten years later. "' Tutankhamen, an Egyptian pharaoh of the 18th dynasty, who reigned from about 1348 to 1339 B.C.'" (Americana Encyclopedia, p. 289) Tutankhamen's tomb was found in the Valley of the Kings in 1922. From evidence uncovered, his burial seems very rushed; the murals on the wall are not complete, and things look as though they were thrown into place instead of gently set down. His tomb was raided about two times, which were estimated to have happened a little over 3000 years ago. Many wonderful artifacts were found in Tutankhamen's tomb.
