The Use of Changing Perspectives in "The Door" and "Sky-High"
The Door is an inspirational poem, with the purpose of motivating the reader to grasp opportunities in life. While this purpose remains constant throughout the poem, the author's approach to conveying this message alters from being more forceful and optimistic to simply stating the very minimal result one would receive by following it's advice.
Alternatively, Sky-High presents a change in outlook, caused by the passing of time, and consequently, life experiences. It appears to be from the viewpoint of an elderly lady, as she recounts memories of childhood actions, and feelings.
