David Livingstone was a great explorer, Christian missionary, and Hero of the nineteenth century. Born in Scotland in 1813, Livingstone spent 30 years of his life in Africa. He explored nearly a third of the continent. Until his death in 1873, Livingstone continued his journeys of the African world.
David Livingstone was born on March 19th, 1813 in Blantyre, Scotland. His father was a highly religious man who raised his children to "live healthy, happy lives and become well fitted for life's duties." David learned at an early age to make the best of whatever situation he was in. His father would lock the door at night because he didn't expect his children to be out that late.
