The Downfall of the Romanovs
Summary: This essay examines the events, leading up to the death of the Romanovs. Describes the Bloody Sunday massacre. Describes how Tsar Nicholas's decisions led to the Russian Revolution.
The demise of the Romanovs is believed to be solely dependent on the naïve decisions of Nicholas II. Nicholas II was the Tsar of Russia, the last one in fact, who was more interested in the wellness of his family than of his people. Saying that tsarism failed during his reign, would be putting things lightly. The consequences of Nicholas' decisions were made the Nazis' actions obsolete. The main cause for the fall of tsarism, was really a series of careless decisions which led to the Bloody Sunday Massacre, the Russo-Japanese war, the war against Germany, and the peasants' demand for "Land, peace, and bread."
