Summary: A review of economic and societal developments in the United States leading up to the Civil War.
After the war of 1812, it became clear to the people of America that they would now be responsible for making their own goods. Britain would no longer be there to help them out. The Tariff of 1816 made this realization even clearer. The three sections of America went into doing what they do best as far as production goes. From 1812 until 1860 the three sections worked hard and peacefully to make money and ensure survival. During the years prior to the Civil War it had been proven that the Industrial and Agricultural Revolutions had a strong impact on Antebellum America.
The Industrial Revolution was the center of Northern cities. Philadelphia and New York were the center cities of industry.
