  1. To examine the various stages of mitosis in Allium (Onion) and in whitefish blastula.
  2. To compare mitosis in animals and in plants.
  3. To determine the amount of time spent in each stage of mitosis in Allium.
  4. To graph time for mitosis to occur in the onion root tip
  5. To draw and label cells in various stages of mitosis.
Materials:

Prepared slides of Allium and Whitefish Blastula.

Procedures:

Part 1

Locate and draw all the stages of mitotic division occurring in the onion root tip. Include a drawing of interphase. Label all the drawings in the space to the right of the drawing. Summarize the changes that occur during each phase.

Part 2

Locate and draw all stages of mitotic division occurring in the white fish blastula. Label all drawings to the right of the drawings and summarize all the changes.
