Mao Zedong was a dominant political leader in China that lived from 1893 to 1976. While he was alive he was able to unite China and as the basic founder of the People's Republic of China. On October 1st 1949 the Chinese Communist Party took their seat as the governmental leaders of the nation with Mao as their chairman. In years to come the country would undergo a significant revolution, not only in their economy and everyday lives, but their ways of thinking as well.
Communism completely altered people's perspective on life. For many, the already impoverished, this change was buoyant and motivated them to work harder at the prospect of a better life. However, for the already wealthy, this produced obstacles that they had mostly likely never faced in their lives.
