Summary: When Beth had her second birthday, I received a phone call; I was needed to go to Afghanistan to give aide to my country. I knew I had an obligation to serve my country, so I said my goodbyes and left. During my nine years of service, I was sheltered from much that happened in America
September 11, 2001; this was a day of infamy. Four planes had been maliciously hijacked and crashed into the two World Trade Centers in New York, the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and a field in Pittsburg. Our country was left heartbroken. Thousands upon thousands of people were killed in these attacks. Police officers and firefighters risked their lives in order to save others. In the flight that crashed into a rural area near Pittsburg; that really was supposed to crash into the Whitehouse; true heroism took effect. Passengers on that flight fought against the heartless terrorists knowing that they would die anyway. These passengers saved many lives, possibly the president's. Later on, government intelligence found that the September 11th attacks were planned and brought forth by Osama Bin Laden, leader of the Al Qaeda regime.
