W.H. Auden and Christina G. Rossetti: Analysis of Two Poems

The first poem I have decided to study is entitled "Stop All The Clocks." It was written by W H Auden, who died in 1973. He was raised in Birmingham and went on to graduate from Oxford University. He became an American citizen in 1938 and won the Pulitzer Prize in 1947.
The poem is about the death of a very close friend and the despair that he feels. In the poem the impression that the poet feels that the whole world has ended is conveyed. Because he is mourning, he feels that everyone else should mourn with him. Throughout the poem we can see how the poet feels that everyday items such as the telephone should be cut off or shut down.
