Character Sketch of Napoleon:

(1) Introduction:

Napoleon is one of the best characters ever developed by Orwell. He is the chief character of the novel. The role played by Napoleon is not only important but also dominant. He is generally recognized as being the cleverest of all the animals. He is considered superior among the pigs. He has also earned "a reputation for getting his own way."

(2) Appearance and Race/Line:

Napoleon is healthy and vigorous pig. As the writer says in his introduction: "Napoleon was a large, rather fierce-looking Berkshire boar." He is the one and only pig in the farm that belongs to Berkshire race. This is why; he is regarded `elite' in the group of pigs.
